LIFE SKILLS

(previously Boost & BOOST Plus)

The Life Skills Project (LSP) was launched on the 1st July 2024. The project provides bespoke one to one life skills sessions for young care leavers aged 16 to 25 yrs.

Our LSP worker offers weekly, fortnightly, and monthly visits to young people, providing essential knowledge on managing money, keeping safe, cooking, being healthy, relating to people, training, and employment along with emotional support and developing their interpersonal and communication skills.

This is reinforced using journals from the ASDAN Moving On Programme, an accredited course designed specifically for care leavers to expand their knowledge & skills to live independently.

“My views on Boost Plus are that they are very helpful, trustworthy, caring and reliable”

Quote from Life Skills service user

“The ASDAN journals are really helping me. They settle me down and give me focus. I like how they are set out and I’m learning. I look forward to completing them”

Case study

“M started working with the Life Skills Project at the end of June this year and has already completed 3 journals including Being Healthy, Relating to People & Managing Money. She plans to complete all 5 to receive her ASDAN certification.

M is using her fortnightly LSP sessions to work towards independent living, in her own tenancy.”
